This is Bob's nickname for the pair....not The Babies but the Taybies.
It sounds like a musical group to me.
Bob laughed hysterically when he saw this photo. They do look like a couple of goofballs...love Kian's milk mustache.
A quiet tayby moment. One of few in the last couple cantankerous days.
Seven week photos....my big boys are almost too big to fit in my basket. I finally got out to buy a basket on Monday. There is a reason newborn photography is supposed to be in the first couple weeks.... but still, there is really nothing cuter.
Even when they cry....
Yesterday I made the grievous error of saying that Jax Cafe is in North Mpls. I actually DID know it was in Northeast Minneapolis, but I missed that correction in my editing.
I have to admit, I am laughing a little (and maybe slightly perturbed) that Mr. Brown took time out of his day to correct me on my error and ask me to change it (in my comments section). This is a slice of life/baby/scrapbooking/photography journal-type blog that is visited by family, friends and other baby/scrapbooking/photography types....this ain't no Perez Hilton dude!
So, in the future, please forgive my errors in advance. I don't claim that this is a hard hitting news blog, and although as much as I strive for perfection (yeah right), I will make silly errors because I am juggling two babies , sleep deprived and well, pure laziness I suppose...that will probably go unchanged (and so will my blog entries in most cases). It's part of my charm. ;-p
Anyway, in order to make appropriate penance, I will also note that I like Nye's Polonaise (for good ol' kitche fun) , The Biblot Shop (which has other stores in the Twin Cities as well), Whitey's (for great sandwiches and cheap bacon wrapped fillet) and Kramarczuk's (for the best apple strudel and best Pierogi outside of my grandma's recipe). All, of which, are in Northeast Minneapolis.
Of course, I wouldn't want to mention that once one ventures out of the trendy revitalized areas, certain parts of the Nordeast are, well, a bit...um, seedy?!?! ...but those blocks are ever-so-charming in their historic griminess...well, at least during the day. ...but I would NEVER mention that now, would I? ;-p

This last one was posted before with the parts and was actually five weeks, but...I am trying to keep 'em even ya know.
It's 8 degrees outside right now..with windchill it is
-1. We had the boys out all weekend, so we bundled them up.
We were at the JDRF walk at the Mall of America this weekend. It has become an annual event for the Johnson family. My nephew was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes over four years ago, and we have attended the walk for the last four years. This year the Nate the Great team raised over $15,000!!!!! I would bet it is over (or very close to) $16,000 now! My sister-in-law, Amie, does a fantastic job organizing a silent auction every year. Amie and my sister-in-law, Rachelle, are holding the boys below:
Other than the transfer from the hotel and back, we spent the day in the warmth of the Mall of America. As you can see, the boys had their own onesies to wear for the walk.
Yesterday, we ventured out into the cold again and went out to brunch in North Minneapolis at Jax Cafe. This is the second year we celebrated my dad's birthday there. We also celebrated my sister-in-law's, Kathy, birthday and (sort of) my Mom's (just in case we don't get together again for her birthday in Feb...although I bet we will.)
Jax is a great place. It opened in 1933, and my parents went on a date there. It was the first time they remember seeing live Maine lobster in a tank in Minnesota (late 60's).
Finally, on the way home, we were driving down Division street in St. Cloud when we noticed this poor soul who could not afford a roof for his car. ;-p
Our car temp reading said negative one at the time.

This is what we call Jasmine's interest in the babies.
She mostly just sniffs them...usually at random times....just to make sure they are still the same babies I guess?!?! Of course, in this photo she is trying to lick Finn, but we try really hard to keep her from that habit.
The girls really adapted well to the babies. Sosa pretty much ignores them and Jasmine just "baby checks" them from time to time.
Sorry for the grainy photo....it has been hard trying to capture the baby checks. Jasmine is too quick.
I knew my kids would be superior to ALL!
We have reached the pinnacle of newborn success. A couple days ago, Finn, in all of his hard work and dedication, not only attempted, but completed the awesome task of pooping, peeing and spitting up all in the brief nanosecond that I allow the diaper to be off his body while changing.
Wooo hooo! It rocked.
..and since I am talking poop, I thought I would share what seems to be the most beloved gift that I gave for Christmas:
Now, this book may not appeal to all, but I knew when I ran across it on-line that my brother would love it. He has a strange sense of humor...but I get it, and let's admit it, there is little more interesting than the various types of poo...an excellent dinner party discussion. ;-p
Anyway, the book actually is quite entertaining and pretty darn informative too.
In other, more heartwarming news, both boys are starting to occasionally smile at Mom while she is talking to them...not nearly as impressive, but certainly a cleaner activity. Of course these little geniuses know that a few smiles at Mom are all that are needed to make her forget the tandem screaming game they like to play from time to time.
...and for some reason I switched from first person to third person point of view...for no apparent reason. ...now back again to first person. I blame it on baby brain, and I am too lazy to fix it.

Whenever Bob gambles (just for fun...really), we always say this line. Yeah, we are pretty original, huh?
Since Bob won one of his Fantasy Football leagues this year (yeah he is in two), and he has told EVERYONE he sees that he has won, I figured now was as good of time as any to buy the boys their first pairs of shoes....and those of you who know me, know I have mad love for the shoes.

...and the boys are five weeks old....as of yesterday. We celebrated their one month birthday on the fourth with Bob's mom in attendance.
New Year's Eve photos.
I have come to the conclusion that the boys do not like me to be on my computer. They like to have my undivided attention when not sleeping...so it is hard to get on to update unless there is someone visiting that will help and/or I get over my mommy guilt.
...and boy is that mommy guilt fun. :::sarcasm::::
Anyway, we are still here (Finn is next to me fussing....he stops when I stop typing and look at him/hold him), so I have to make this quick.
...and just a quick update on the boys. Kian is now 6lbs 10 oz (he started out at 5 lbs 2 oz and went below the five lb mark after birth.)
Finn is 7 lbs 15 oz. He was 6 lbs 2 oz at birth and went below six lbs after birth.
All looked well.
We are all here and still doing well. Sorry for my lack of updates. We have barely been home. We spent most of the last dozen days or so in the Mankato/Mapleton area or the Twin Cities. We had a beautiful Christmas holiday...family, food, relaxation and fun!
Last night was a quiet night for us. We did a little shopping, ate some Chinese and watched a movie. The boys cuddled and/or ate until we went to bed at 2:00 A.M...then they were nice enough to let us sleep undisturbed until 8 A.M.! We cuddled them back to sleep for a couple more hours after that. It was a nice way to start out the new year....not holding my breath for a repeat though.
