2 Hours Traffic

Do not HOVER around my desk...

I am grumpy today.  This is the third major cold since the school year started and I am not happy.  I shouldn't take it out on my students, and I certainly try not too, but my patience wears thin when I am ill.  One of my pet peeves is when students hover around my desk.... two want to go to the restroom, one wants to call their mom, three want an updated grade sheet, and one wants to just hang around my desk and bug me.  So, today I spent a good portion of the day shooing students away...threatening to cough on them and giving the evil eye to those who would not take "NO" as an answer.  MOST of them got the point and steered clear of grumpy Mrs. J.

OK, on another note, yesterday I took this photo of my friend's little girl, Ella.  She is so darn cute; I just had to share.  Ella makes me smile even when I am feeling dumpy.  Love her stylish little poncho.

Food, food, and more food

Well, I made it to the Food and Wine expo; even in my drugged up stupor, I had a great time.  Highlights this year:  Sushi from a place that delivers fresh sushi at home that a person can roll out and cut on their own..it really was good.  Marshall Fields had  a dried pear with Camembert cheese...ummm.  It sounds strange, but Amy and I both agreed that it was amazing.  Of course, the chocolate covered strawberries were also a crowd pleaser.   Ok, I need to get back to the Oscars.

Welcome to my disease ridden world.  Once AGAIN  I am getting a cold.  I know it doesn't help that I work in a confined environment with a bunch of students sniffling, sneezing, and coughing.  Every paper, every desk, every pencil I pick up off the floor carries potential predators. 

I never want a cold, but this weekend is my annual trip to Mecca...The Twin Cities Food and Wine Expo.  My friend, Amy, and I go every year.  Wine is great and all, but Amy and I are SERIOUS about our food...make no mistake; we are there for the cheese, sushi, pasta, chocolate, bread, ice cream etc...  I am pretty sure this is our sixth year of attending and we have the expo down to a science.  This is a weekend I look forward to each year.  I am still planning on attending, but I am a little worried that this sickness may get in the way of my enjoyment... 

I shall overcome! 

Crying, body art: 70 minutes of pure joy!

I am California dreaming today...

Oh, the rewards of being a high school English teacher.  This tri I was blessed with Speech and Comp 10. 

Today was a presentation day: 70 minutes of persuasive speeches. 

The highlights: My "rebel without a cause",  who was persuading us to get piercings and tats,  did NOT attempt a nose piercing in class today(he tried to attain permission from me...hmmm, I thought long and hard on that one  ;-).  He did inform us that we should NOT get face tattoos otherwise we will end up working at McDonalds..in the back. I think I will take that advice.

My other highlight was making a student cry...well, not really, but I had a gusher today.  It can be so hard being the evil speech teacher. I try to help the nervous get up there and get it over with, but this one was not only crying, she was hiccuping and shaking.  :::Sigh::::  We will try again on Monday.

I am still trying to figure out this blog layout thing, and I am getting flustered.  Hopefully by tomorrow, I will be up and running!

What here thou miss, our toil shall strive to mend...

Ok, so I have officially taught Romeo and Juliet one too many times.  I decided to name my blog 2 Hours Traffic...as an ode to Shakespeare's R&J prologue.  I don't know why...I just did.  I hope to entertain, inform and just be "cool" with my brand spankin' new blog.  If you think a blog is pretentious, vain or lame...well, then you are just not cool like I am.  I ROCK! 

By the way, ALL the cool girls have one.  ;-p
